Now that ChatGPT is enabled by artificial intelligence, you can speak to it and hear it respond.
The company that created the hugely well-liked chatbot, OpenAI, revealed on Monday that it is introducing new capabilities, one of which is the capability for users to have audio conversations with ChatGPT.
OpenAI hinted at the potential uses of this new tool in a corporate blog post on Monday, saying that it can be used to “request a bedtime story for your family, or settle a dinner table debate.”
The new vocal capabilities from OpenAI are comparable to those now provided by Apple’s Siri and Amazon’s Alexa voice assistants. So, the AI chatbot can now respond to your inquiries by speaking to them.
In a demonstration of the new update provided by OpenAI, a user requests that ChatGPT create a tale about “the super-duper sunflower hedgehog named Larry.” With a voice that has a human-like quality, the chatbot can read aloud stories and react to queries like, “What was his house like?” and “Who is his best friend?”
According to a blog post by Open AI, ChatGPT’s voice functionality is “powered by a new text-to-speech model, capable of generating human-like audio from just text and a few seconds of sample speech,” The business claimed that it worked with expert voice actors to produce the five voices. The chatbot can be animated with a variety of voices.
Additionally, OpenAI announced on Monday that it is introducing a new feature that enables the bot to reply to instructions that include an image. Take a picture of what’s in your refrigerator, for instance, and ask ChatGPT to help you prepare a dinner based on what you have on hand. The business added that you may use the “drawing tool” in the app to instruct the chatbot to concentrate on a certain area of an image.
Within the following two weeks, paying users of ChatGPT’s Plus and Enterprise services will be able to access the additional capabilities in the app. The Enterprise service is presently only available to business clients, and subscriptions to the Plus service cost $20 per month.
The changes from OpenAI coincide with a tech industry AI arms race that was initially sparked by ChatGPT’s late-last-year public debut. Tech behemoths have been rushing to release new updates in recent weeks that integrate more AI-powered features straight into their core products. Last week, Google released a number of upgrades for ChatGPT rival Bard. Also last week, Amazon announced that its Alexa voice assistant would receive a generative AI-powered update.
The ChatGPT mobile apps for iOS and Android have also been improved with this upgrade, enabling users to have more natural discussions with the AI and transforming it into a flexible tool for answering queries and disseminating knowledge.
In conclusion, the most recent version of ChatGPT now allows users to speak with the AI, making it a more interactive and user-friendly tool for a variety of jobs and enquiries.
