The Institute Startup Incubators is free and aimed at members and ex-members of the Universities wanting to start or grow entrepreneur-driven ventures. startups have the possibility to work on their ideas in order to exploit and upgrade them, in collaboration with teams composed of students from different universities.
Following the directions of the mentors, they receive the right tools and methods to improve the product or the service created, while they also have the opportunity to present and share issues and ideas with teachers and different public and private institutions. Although they offer their clients office space and shared administrative services.

1. NSRCEL, IIM Bangalore
NSRCEL is one of the earliest business incubators in India. This Incubation is open to all entrepreneurs – across sectors, domains, and industries. It encourages and empowers entrepreneurs through academic research as well as practical ecosystem developmental activities.
NS Raghavan Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning (NSRCEL) was set up in March 2000 as a focal point for entrepreneurial studies at IIM Bangalore, to carry out cutting edge academic research into entrepreneurship and provide practical learning for entrepreneurs. It is also envisioned as a world-class center for excellence in seeding, nurturing and promoting entrepreneurship with the objective of helping entrepreneurs transform their ideas into successful high growth enterprises.
2. CIIE, IIM Ahmedabad
IIM Ahmedabad’s Centre for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) is one of India’s leading innovation centers. Through its investment arm, CIIE provides seed-fund and incubation support to aspiring entrepreneurs in IT, cleantech, healthcare and education space. In its effort to establish a stronger entrepreneurial ecosystem in India, CIIE has conceptualized and partnered with several initiatives like INFUSE, Power of Ideas, iAccelerator, Stay Hungry Stay Foolish, MentorEdge among others.
CIIE’s incubation and investment activities received an impetus in 2007 following the creation of a dedicated physical infrastructure with support from IIM Ahmedabad, Government of India and the Gujarat Government and setting up of an autonomous entity (called CIIE Initiatives) for CIIE’s incubation and investment activities. Apart from incubating and investing in over 50 innovative ventures across the high-tech sector, CIIE has taken up several initiatives to strengthen India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem by providing mentoring, financial and knowledge inputs.
3. SINE, IIT Bombay
Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SINE) manages the technology business incubator at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. SINE support technology start ups founded by IIT Bombay community or are based on IIT Bombay technologies. Thus, SINE extends the role of IIT Bombay by facilitating the conversion of R&D into entrepreneurial ventures.
SINE was founded in 2004, has an infrastructure spread over 10,000 sq.ft., and can incubate 15-17 companies at a time. SINE is supported by several government departments such as Department of Science and Technology, Department of Information Technology, Technology Development Board.
4. TBI, BITS Pilani
BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology, GoI, has established a Technology Business Incubator. TBI-BITS Hyd aims to provide a low cost and resource intensive sandbox for Health-Tech, Bio-Tech, and Devices where entrepreneurs can develop their product, services or process ideas towards commercialization.
TBI-BITS Founded in 2005 at Hyderabad Campus and provides office and lab space equipment, seed funding and vitally, mentorship from an international network of successful business leaders.Prospective entrepreneurs, BITS students, faculty, staff, and alumni are invited to engage with TBI in a friendly and hassle free environment. Professional staff will quickly gauge your requirements and provide custom-made services and solutions in a timely manner.
5. SIDBI SIIC, IIT Kanpur
IIT Kanpur has set up the SIDBI Innovation & Incubation Centre (SIIC) in collaboration with Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) to foster innovation, research, and entrepreneurial activities in technology-based areas. SIIC provides a platform to Start-ups prospective entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs to convert their innovative ideas into commercially viable products.
SIIC Founded in 2001 at IIT Kanpur, It incubates ventures in technology, engineering, and other interdisciplinary areas. Regular events like entrepreneurial talk series, workshops and seminars have offered SIIC a good interface and visibility in the region. It is supported by SIDBI, DIT, DST, MSME, BIRAC, and DSIR to boost the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the country.
6. RTBI, IIT Madras
IIT Madras’ Rural Technology and Business Incubator (RTBI) is a registered not-for-profit society. Established on the 16th Oct 2006 as a formal business incubator with the inception support of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India and World Bank’s Infodev arm, the aim of RTBI is to support rural and social inclusive start-ups, primarily those that enable scalable products and services for the under-served and bottom-of-the-pyramid segment. Identifying ways and means to strengthen entrepreneurs with business models for innovative, low-cost and relevant products and services.
RTBI’s objective is to identify, nurture and support entrepreneurs aspiring to evolve rural/social inclusive business models leveraging Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). RTBI looks at strengthening and supporting entrepreneurs whose start-up aims to have a larger and cascading impact on the rural and underserved populace.
7. TBI, VIT Vellore
Technology Business Incubator (TBI) is an entity, which helps technology start-up businesses with all the necessary resources/support that the startup needs to evolve and grow as a mature business. Typically, TBIs provide incubates, the start-up businesses supported by the incubator, with necessary infrastructure support, technology/ prototype development support, research assistance, help in getting funding, business consulting assistance and do whatever is necessary to make the start-up a success.
VIT-TBI Founded in 2003 at Vellore Campus and it is situated inside the University of Vellore Institute of Technology. Hence, VIT-TBI leverages all the resources that are available on the campus such as access to laboratory, workshops, development and testing centers, computing resources, internet access and above all the human resources. 8. TREC STEP, NIT Trichy
TREC-STEP is a pioneering Organization, promoted in 1986, by the Central and State Governments of India, such as the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, Government of Tamilnadu, along with National Financial institutions such as IDBI, IFCI, ICICI and other institutions, for spearheading the promotion of Science and Technology, Innovations and Knowledge based ventures, by nurturing the ‘Spirit of Enterprise’ among the aspiring youth of India and mentoring and hand holding them to realize their growth targets, through their Innovative Technology Ventures, in the globalized marketplace.
TREC-STEP’s comprehensive package of Incubation support for the promotion of new, innovative industries, includes innovative funding mechanisms such as the ‘idea to prototype’ innovation fund, early stage seeding through the incubation fund, subsidized central production facilities and nursery sheds, mentoring and handholding and many other need based supports, for young entrepreneurs to launch and grow their industries successfully.
9. NDBI NID, Ahmedabad
NDBI supports designers to turn their ideas and concepts into successful competitive businesses and provides an environment to develop an essential business management skills and systems that may enable designers to grow as business leaders, NDBI Provider Design Business Incubator through its establishment with experts from different fields of work as Mentors to its start-up incubates.
Ministry of Science & Technology has supported NDBI under the scheme TBI-Technology Business Incubators. We have received TDB Seed Fund and also from the DIPP, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India to support the incubation seed fund under the name of Venture Ready Fund (VRF).
10. AII, AMITY

Supported by DST, Ministry of Science & Technology, GOI, ‘Amity Innovation Incubator ‘ has in a very short time of its existence earned an enviable position for itself with startups which have regularly been on top of the innovation curve and have been recognized on platforms like ‘The Power of ideas’, Read Herring Global winner, Tata NEN and NASSCOM Innovation Awards to name a few.
