People have used many words to describe Miki Agrawal, including best-selling author, CEO, entrepreneur, founder, and innovator. However, the one word that comes up more than any other is disruptor. Miki Agrawal has disrupted various industries after creating and launching several business ventures.
Miki Agrawal did not set out to disrupt any industry when she began her career as an investment banker, but her talent and instincts drove her to create change. She decided to pursue a new career in creating innovative, yet practical, products while keeping environmental safety in mind.
Wild, the first company Miki Agrawal launched, is a gluten-free pizzeria that uses a farm-to-table approach. The restaurant now has two successful locations in New York City.
For her next project, Agrawal decided to challenge the current conversation around menstruation. She launched the underwear company THINX in 2014, which provides women with special underwear to use during their monthly cycle.
Miki Agrawal’s most recent project is TUSHY, a fabricated bidet attachment that works with standard toilets. Her hope when creating TUSHY was to modernize the experience of using the restroom.
People in numerous industries consider Agrawal a thought leader, a fact that helps to account for her success with book sales. She has published the following titles to date:
1. Disrupt-Her: A Manifesto for the Modern Woman: In her first publication, Agrawal provides her readers with insight into confidence, evolution, and leadership.
2. Do Cool Sh*t!: A follow-up to the above title, this book gives women a blueprint for how to create a career they want and love.
Two leading business publications in the United States have recognized Agrawal’s passion and leadership. Forbes Magazine recently named her one of its Top 20 Millennials on a Mission, and INC Magazine recognized Miki Agrawal as one of the publication’s Most Impressive Women Entrepreneurs of 2016.
Agrawal’s parents hail from India and Japan, where using bidets to wash their backs after using the bathroom is normal. People from those countries view Americans using dry toilet paper to clean themselves as unsanitary. Her first goal was to change the way Americans thought of cleanliness by presenting the TUSHY bidet and accessories as a way to get truly clean. She feels that people will never go back to using dry toilet paper once they have experienced the sensation of feeling truly clean.
Entrepreneur Miki Agrawal also created this alternative to toilet paper because she wants to conserve trees. She felt shocked to learn that American companies cut down and use 15 million trees each year just to make toilet paper. Agrawal also learned that processing a single roll of toilet paper requires 37 gallons of water, while a bidet uses only one pint of water for every use.
Miki Agrawal has a long career ahead of her, and people across multiple industries anxiously wait to see what she will develop next.
