Litvill Lessons is an online English learning platform that has changed the way school-going kids learn English. Its cutting-edge e-modules and student-tracking learning management system work together with online classes conducted by European English mentors. The true uniqueness of the method is the tutor system.

Putting the proverb “The best way to learn is to teach” into practice, the experts of the company developed a unique tutoring model to speed up learning. Learners who pass a level can take online classes on levels below them. Surprisingly, the senior students are paid for the tutor classes to support their studies.

Story of Litvill Lessons

Many people say that the Little Lessons story sounds like a fairy tale, calling for a movie. It starts with a poor, stone-polishing Indian boy (Imran Rautan), who has recently launched his non-profit company to help disadvantaged kids like him around India, to fulfill their potential. Imran Rautan grew up in a kind of slum.

Imran had to do stone polishing from the tender age of 8, but he still managed to finish secondary school. After school, he went to work at a small hotel. He always wanted a better life: cars, fancy sunglasses and a long coat. In the hotel, he realized that most of the rich people who have cars, sunglasses, and coats speak English.

He thought, If he spoke English, he could be like them. So, he started to learn English by himself, using English newspapers left behind by the guests. All the hotel guests were his tutors. One day a foreign lady arrived at the hotel, and he asked her to explain some English phrases, as usual, that were on his plate for the day.

The lady was impressed by his method and enthusiasm. Imran asked her if she can help him to learn English. He was lucky; the lady was an expert in learning theories, so, out of curiosity, she agreed. Imran did 80% of the learning by himself and 20% of the time the foreigner lady guided him online. In less than 6 months, he was able to easily communicate with his hotel guests.

Seeing his hard work and progress, the lady also offered him financial support to go to a university. He accepted her offer, though she was not sure if he could do it besides a full-time job. Imran attended the university from morning till afternoon then he did his full-time job until midnight, for three years, including Saturdays and Sundays. It was quite challenging, but still, he was one of the best students at the University of Jaipur. His appetite for learning grew, and he also finished his master’s degree.

In 2022 he even got a scholarship from a foreign university to do PhD studies. By that time he realized that big cars, sunglasses and long coats are meaningless. What makes you really happy is to do something good for others.

There might be millions of Indian kids like him, who have no opportunity to study, but have potential. With this aim, Imran Rautan and the lady from Europe (Dolores Csabai) started to work on an online English platform, and founded a non-profit organization called Litvill Lessons Association to help mainly school-going kids in India to improve their English as well as thinking skills. He believes if he could make it so far, others can also make it with the help of Litvill Lessons.

How students learn through the 60-30-10 formula

Our exclusive 60-30-10 formula learning formula cannot be found anywhere!

60 refers to 60% self-learning by the students through our self-guided e-modules. Self-learning is the key for customization, as there are no two students alike.

20% refers to 20% learning with senior students who are at a higher level. Teaching is the best way to learn. It is widely known but rarely applied. Our senior students teach the same topic that they learned before to junior students in one-to-one online sessions. Our senior students earn credits based on the number of classes that they can spend on mentor classes.

20% refers to 20% of learning that happens with our foreign teachers. It is more about discussion on what the students learned about the topic through self-learning and one-to-one sessions with senior students.

Future Plans

Our future plan is to replicate our founder’s story as much as possible. We are creating a small community of excellent learners who will revolutionize the way people learn. That small community of excellent learners can make a huge difference in a wider society. As Litvill Lessons is a non-profit organization, our resources are limited.

We want to spend our resources on those who deserve it. We only want to give an opportunity to students who have the potential to grow. We select our learners who meet our criteria, and being rich or poor is not our criteria. Our aim is not to increase our revenue, but to raise excellent learners and thinkers. This is what our country actually needs!
