He produces these animations for commercials, computer games, websites etc. The role and responsibilities of an animator are as follows:

  • Interacting with clients, writers, producers, directors to understand the needs, review scripts, discuss the style, method and execution of animation, discuss the concepts, ideas etc.
  • Budgeting and getting client approvals on the financials. Finalising the deadlines and adhering to timelines
  • Create accurate frames-by-frame visuals using sketches, drawings, illustrations etc.
  • Selecting color palettes, style and deciding on the general look of animation
  • Design models, backgrounds, objects, characters & sets including animation environment using a range of materials from plaster, modeling clay to oil paints, acrylics etc.
  • Design Storyboards for approvals
  • Observing the movements of real life characters in order to develop pace and timing of the movements of animated characters.
  • Ensuring that the sequencing and character movements matches the sound design
  • Record dialogues.
  • Using various tools and technical software to stitch the frames, build special effects, character movements etc.
  • Liaison with various teams-copy writers, photographers, designers, website designers or marketing specialists
  • At times it also involves pitching your ideas to prospective customers
  • Making iterations in animations basis the client feedback, thus ensuring that the final product aligns with client’s expectations.
  • Researching and be updated with new industry trends and technology.
