6 Ways To Make Working From Home Feel More Enjoyable

Working from home is a blessing for so many people, and they couldn’t think of anything worse than returning to the office. On the other hand, some people have a really difficult time working from home, which can lead to poor productivity, stress, and other mental health conditions. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been working from home since the early days of the pandemic or you’ve just started remote life; we’ve got you covered with these six ways to make it feel more enjoyable.

Make Use of Your Commute Time

If you worked in an office, you’d have to leave time for the commute. The average commute takes between 30 minutes and two hours (there and back). Rather than hitting snooze through your commute time, get ready as you usually would and get some use out of it. You can use the time to exercise, update your calendars, read a book, or practice mindfulness.

Use Appropriate Technology

There’s nothing worse than trying to attend a Zoom meeting and suffering through lagging and disconnections. Therefore, you should make sure your equipment is suitable to carry out your work, which will make the remote working experience more enjoyable. Even if your employer provides your equipment, you still need to ensure you have a fast internet speed.

Look After Your Body

Your body is a delicate system that needs taking care of, and we’re not only talking about eating healthier and squeezing in regular workouts. Instead, it’s important to make sure your office is set up to support your body. This doesn’t mean you have to spend a fortune on the best ergonomic chair, desk, keyboard, and mouse, but you should be in tune with your body and make sure you’re comfortable at all times.

Get Plenty of Sun

Sunlight is fantastic for the body and it’s been proven to improve productivity. However, many workers in traditional office settings don’t have the luxury. This is something you don’t have to worry about, so go ahead and place your desk close to the window and soak up the sun. If this isn’t possible, then consider using large mirrors to reflect the sun.

Add Sensory Stimulation

The University of Exeter in the UK conducted a study about how much more productive workers are when they have control over their workplaces. Their findings suggest that environmental control boosts productivity by 32%. When you’re working from home, you become one of those people with access to increased productivity, which means you can decorate however you please, set your temperature, and avoid any discomforts found in a typical office.

Pack Everything Away

Working from home can lead some workers down the slippery slope of overworking because they struggle to strike a balance. To make sure this doesn’t happen to you, make a point of packing everything away at the end of the day, which means clearing away stacks of folders and putting your laptop away.

Remote work can take a while to get used to, but once you start following the strategies above, you’ll soon discover how much joy it can bring.
