1. Hubspot’s blog topic generator
Not sure what your next blog topic should be? Check out Hubspot’s blog topic generator. Give them three terms you might write about and they’ll spit back 5 blog topics. When I used this tool one day I entered the words “copywriting” “branding” and “marketing.” In about 2 seconds, this tool suggested the following five blog topics:
–What Will Copywriting Be Like In 100 Years?
–14 Common Misconceptions About Branding
–10 Quick Tips About Marketing
–The History of Copywriting
–10 Signs You Should Invest In Branding
I may or may not write on all of these topics, but even if I get one new idea that moves me from stuck to unstuck, this tool has done its job. And it cost me nothing more than a minute of my time.
2. Yoast SEO
If you have a WordPress website, you need Yoast. This amazing plugin makes the process of generating free traffic from Google, Bing or Yahoo search so much easier. Here’s the thing, just because you have a website, it doesn’t mean anyone will ever look at it. And if you don’t optimize it, the chance of anyone finding it through search is slim to none.
Yoast makes it easier to be found. Now, I don’t want to give you the wrong idea, SEO is not a “one-and-done” thing—at all. If you want to play ball on the search engines you’ll have to do a lot more than use Yoast and you’ll have to do it on an ongoing basis; However, Yoast helps you get the process started. It’s easy to use and it’s free.
3. MailChimp
Believe it or not, email is still one of the most powerful marketing tactics you can (and should) integrate into your marketing strategy. 72% of U.S. adults say they prefer companies to communicate with them via email and 91% say they’d like to receive promotional emails from companies they do business with.
Add to that the fact that the efficacy of email marketing is really easy to track and we’ve got a winner. You can send up to 12,000 professionally designed emails every year with MailChimp at no charge.
4. Hemingway
If you like the idea of having an editor in your back pocket, Hemingway is your new BFF. It helps you write clear, bold copy. It doesn’t matter if you’re writing a webpage, a video script or a good old fashioned letter, simply copy and paste your text into the app and watch Hemingway show you how to write like a rockstar.
